Restaurant photography case study

Restaurant photography is fun and has its own challenges – you want to show the space and capture the vibe all in a still image, whilst at the same time cause minimal disruption to their busy service.

When the Santa Monica Group contacted me saying they needed a good commercial photographer in Brisbane to showcase their new grand project, Metropole Bar and Eatery and Espresso Emporium housed in the impressive 180 Brisbane skyscraper, I was delighted to take up the challenge. The guys at Santa Monica Group have had a busy opening and wanted the images to illustrate the buzz and diversity of the various spaces as well as to capture a good selection of their menu.

They have an extensive menu and people have really taken to the choice on offer. The hardest part of the shoot was finding a way through the lunchtime crowd at the service areas to capture shots of the food counters whilst causing limited disruption to customers and staff. In the end we found the crowds parted at just the right times and we manged to produce some great shots that really capture the style, ambience and flare of both venues.
